On March, 2010, I will be speaking at the Miami Conference (www.connectionmiami.com), an event that will discuss social investing, focused on Latin America with an special emphasis in Brazil.

March 17, 2010 -- FORESTATION ISSUES IN THE NEW ECONOMY

Rodrigo Han, Fundação Daniel Dazcal and Consultant to Vox Capital and Inter-American Development Bank
Dr. Micheal Roy, CREA
Diogo Rossi, The Nature Conservancy
MODERATOR: TBA

If economic interest (cattle raising, food production, wood extraction) is what drives deforestation, can there be an equation that combines social and environmental sustainability
synergistically to pose an economically viable alternative to deforestation economic interest? Is
economic interest and social and environmental sustainability mutually exclusive?

March 18, 2010 -- CAPACITY-BUILDING FOR BRAZILIAN SOCIAL BUSINESS

Kelly Michel, Vox Capital/Artemisia
Vivianne Naigeborin, Social business specialist
MODERATOR: Rodrigo Han, Fundação Daniel Dazcal and Consultant to Vox Capital and Inter-American Development Bank

Impact investors consistently note the need for increased preparedness on the part of the businesses receiving capital. There are several serious players in Brazil tackling this challenge, all of whom will share their insights and innovative methodologies they have been able to
develop along the way. These programs have resulted in increased “investment-readiness” on the part of the participating businesses.

Triple Sustainability

Time has passed quite a bit since I last wrote here. Well, since then I have become quite an enthusiast about sustainability -- the triple kind of sustainability: socio, economic, environmental... I feel as though I must work on something larger than life. In helping to establish a more socially-economic well balanced world, which will hurt our planet less (for I don't think the human being can ever not hurt nature), I might have done my contribution to this world.

Social Venture Capital

Dear Reader,

As you read this topic, I am wondering whether or not to take on the less travelled road. Coming from a financial/consultancy backgroung, social venture capital/imapct investing is really something that hits my ear in a very different way than anything that I have ever heard.
